Change Happens

I’m a person who thrives on routine. Every morning I make coffee, slip away for a few minutes of Bible study, shower and eat the same breakfast — a bowl of oatmeal with milk and walnuts. For date nights with my husband, John, I want to eat at the same restaurants. During the day, I visit the same websites, read the same blogs, interact with the same friends. And in the funny way life works, my life seems to be {Read More}

In Their Words: Veterans’ Stories

As early as 1940, prisoners began arriving at the small train station at Mauthausen, where nestled in the hills was a hidden concentration camp. A full two years before the bombing of Pearl Harbor, this once peaceful community was already experiencing the horrors of war. By January 1941, the Mauthausen-Gusen camps became the only ‘Category I’ camps in Third Reich history, meaning “camp of no return.” Prisoners were used as slave labor in quarries and munitions factories. These men and {Read More}

Do Something AMAZING for Your Marriage

Want to do something AMAZING for your marriage? Pray . . . together. John and I started praying together about four years ago. We thought we were doing fine as a couple until my old boyfriend contacted me over the Internet. I really struggled with all the emotions over that past relationship, and I asked my husband to pray for me. He did. Aloud. Holding my hands. His face next to mine. It was intimate, beautiful. Right away I felt {Read More}

What the Titanic Taught Me About Parenting

April 15, 2012 marked the 100th Anniversary of the Titanic Disaster. I tried to picture me and my daughters climbing into a lifeboat and seeing my husband and grown sons standing on the decks. It truly was heartbreaking! Of course, that would {Read More}
