Almost everything—from the desk, to the chair, to the lamp and books—was thrifted or free. I painted the antique chair my favorite aqua color and then gave the old, dark wood table a makeover as well. The stack of books came with the husband, but he found them at a garage sale. The lamp is from a thrift store, as is the little white bowl holding a real bird’s nest my son found outside in our yard. The small quilted square beneath the books was made by a wonderfully talented friend of mine! The desk faces the largest bedroom window, and I have an inspiring view of the woods and little critters bounding through them—birds, chipmunks, and my daughter’s friend, Jumpy Squirrel.
When do I write? Whenever I can fit it into life. I am not nearly disciplined enough to have a set time, and my writer’s brain doesn’t work like that, anyway.
