Unforgettable Stories

Beneath those white crosses, which as sentinels stand,
Majestically protecting them like the Almighty hand,
In a slumbering sleep beneath that blanket of stone,
Rest the heroes we've known who never came home.

I call the stories "unforgettable" because that's what they are. In the four years I've been interviewing WWII veterans for my research, I've heard them. I've listened to stories of victory and pain, of hope found and of friends lost. Each story is worthy of it's own novel, yet I'd never have enough time to write them all.

Yet, still I can't forget. I remember the tears of the veterans. I remember the distant looks in their eyes as they relived those events in their minds. And I knew I had to share these stories too.

This website was created to do just that. My goal is to share some of the true stories that shaped my novels. And to provide others worthy of telling that didn't fit within my pre-existing stories lines. These stories are unforgettable . . . just like the men who shared them with me, some of whom have since passed on.

Read them. Remember them. Share them. It's all any of us can do. These men sacrificed their lives for our freedom. Let us honor them by helping their experiences to live on.
